How Is Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Made?

Hot-dip galvanized steel is produced by a continuous hot-dip galvanizing process with hot-rolled steel or cold-rolled steel as the substrate. That is, continuously immerse the base metal into the molten zinc bath (at 450 degrees) to apply a layer of zinc coating to its surface. Before galvanizing, the base metal will be degreased, washed, dried, and then annealed first. It is available in sheet and coil.

According to GB/T 2518-2008, the code of HDG products includes steel grade (or serial number), steel characteristics (if any), hot-dip galvanizing (D, E for electro galvanizing), coating type (Z/AZ/ZAM), and thickness (number). For example, DC51D+Z30 refers to cold rolled HDG steel for general uses and the zinc coating weight is 30 g/m2.
